MAG Cup Announced

We are exceptionally excited to announce the very first South African affiliated Call of Duty World League (CWL) tournament which is brought to you by Monster Energy, ASTRO Gaming, PlayStation, KontrolFreek and us.

The CWL Monster ASTRO Gaming Cup (MAG Cup) will feature a cash prize pool of R120 000, as well as an additional R20 000 worth of ASTRO Gaming gear, R5000 worth of KontrolFreek gear and some Monster swag.

The tournament will see up to 64 teams compete in an online qualifier where the top eight teams from that qualifier will head to a LAN final at rAge 2016 in Johannesburg on 7 to 9 October.

The CWL MAG Cup follows the day after COD XP 2016 and the Call of Duty World League Championship have ended in Los Angeles.

Prize Breakdown:

  • 1st Prize: R60 000
    R20 000 worth of ASTRO Gaming Gear
    R5 000 KontrolFreek Hamper
    Case of Original Monster Energy Drink per player
    Exclusive Monster Energy Swag (Cap, T-Shirt, Lanyard, Keyring and Backpack)
  • 2nd Prize: R25 000
    Case of Original Monster Energy Drink per player
  • 3rd Prize: R10 000
    6 pack of Original Monster Energy Drink per player
  • 4th Prize: R8 000
  • 5th Prize: R5 000
  • 6th Prize: R5 000
  • 7th Prize: R3 500
  • 8th Prize: R3 500

PLEASE NOTE:
All participating teams will need to comply with the Call of Duty World League rule set that requires all participants to be 18 years or older.
Teams must also be aware of the schedule as no deviation will be allowed during either the online qualifier or the LAN finals.

The CWL MAG Cup follows the day after COD XP 2016 and the Call of Duty World League Championship have ended in Los Angeles.

At COD XP, the top 32 teams from around the world will be battling for their shot at a $2 million prize pool following almost a year of tough competition around the world. Teams from North America, Europe, and Australia/New Zealand will compete in a four-day tournament for the largest prize pool in Call of Duty Championship history and the coveted title of 2016 Call of Duty Champions.
